Aim: This short unit provides an overview of generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), including common causes and risk factors, and the pathophysiology of the condition. It highlights identifiable symptoms, diagnostic criteria, and treatment options as part of therapy that is important for the therapist to know.
Purpose: To identify as part of counselling basic information which introduces and educates the practitioner in recognising general anxiety disorder (GAD) symptoms.
