Minute with Dr Linet – Drive
Drive – Often the drive to do something in our lives diminishes, this could be related to different things, energy, the physical ability to undertake a project or that we have changed direction. If we fail in our drive, we often place restrictions in our thoughts from negative self talk. This is self judgment and we can feel like a failure when we don’t achieve our goals.
It’s good to recognise that sometimes, its ok to not be ok. If you recognise this, it’s a step towards getting your drive back. We all have peaks and troughs in our emotions during the day which is normal, try not to be too hard on yourself when you feel that your drive has ‘left the building’. Seek help from friends, family or a professional counsellor. You are on your own journey and path and living life in your own way, it’s not for other people to pass judgement on this. A good mantra to repeat is: What other people think about me is none of my business.
